The United States high speed internet penetration is some of the best in the world. Not only are the companies that are offering services providing more for their customers, but customers in many areas are able to get service. Whether you are living in a subdivision in a suburb or simply need high speed internet at your office, you should be able to find a provider with a reasonable price.

Service Selection

Fiber Optic

There are so many different high speed internet companies to choose from in the United States. Whether you want to go with a company that provides service through fiber cables, regular cable or other methods is where your price is going to differ. U-verse and Verizon Fios are currently the companies that provide their services through the fiber optic cable. This allows them to take advantage of more bandwidth and serve more customers in their areas. Another great advantage to this is that it qualifies them for federal grants to help bring service to your area!

Traditional Coaxial

Regular cable companies are still some of the biggest providers of high speed internet and cable. Comcast Cable, Charter and Cox are known for providing a great deal of cable service. Many times, these companies do not compete with each other in a local area. Instead, only one will offer its service while the others diving up the markets between themselves. This allows for less competition, and if you truly want to get cable, you have to pay a much higher price.

Service Pricing

Another important fact to remember when you are purchasing high speed internet and cable is what price you are willing to pay. Money can be a big motivator when you are looking at the big picture. The less money you spend, and the better service you can buy, the more happy you are going to be. Currently, Comcast Cable along with AT&T Uverse offer some of the lowest prices. This is often because they are “bundled” with other services such as cable television or digital phone service. Doing this might save you money, but it might also cause your prices to go up. Yet another thing to consider is that you need to know how much bandwidth you are getting in your high speed internet. There are many different levels of high speed internet, with speeds varying from 3 MBPS to 7 MBPS or even more!

Choose Your Service Provider Wisely

The key thing that you need to remember when you are trying to find high speed internet in the United States is what service provider you are signing up with. Service can vary widely from area to area, but how you will be treated and how well your problems are going to be handled are going to be upon the service provider. Many companies do a great job at making sure their customers are well taken care of. Other companies do not give a care in the world to what you think of them. Do your research and compare broadband companies before purchasing any internet or cable from these companies!

obviously copper/coax is an ancient technology. fiber is way better. When will the cable companies start deploying fiber to the home like Verizon?
